Mind – Students study the way in which a plethora of writers craft their works in order to influence, engage and inspire their readers. They utilise the skills of critical analysis, inference and evaluation in order to become independent, inquisitive and critical thinkers who are able to articulate their own ideas, perspectives and motivations confidently.

Body – Studying English enables students to interact with the physical world through the texts they read and also develops the skills, vocabulary and confidence to articulate and rationalise the physical world through their own writing.

Spirit – Reading well encourages students to engage with and empathise with a vast range of cultures, identities and experiences that might otherwise be alien and enables them to develop an understanding of themselves, their context and aspirations. We encourage students to engage with their emotions and hone the skills they need to articulate their thoughts and feelings.
