Mind – Within ADT students are encouraged to develop critical thinking skills through a range of projects delivered at KS3 under the umbrella of Art, Design
& Technology in order that they may access and scaffold learning and allow the component skills to be delivered in a way that gives students the opportunity to develop their own knowledge and understanding of each topic area. A broad and balanced curriculum in ADT is delivered throughout KS4 through Art,
Product Design, and Hospitality & Catering to allow further scaffolding of knowledge, skills and understanding of the theory and practical aspects of the subject equipping students with the appropriate skills for post 16 education and employment to create
well rounded, capable individuals with the skills necessary to contribute constructively and successfully to society and their community.

Body – Through Food and Nutrition, students will demonstrate effective and safe cooking skills by planning, preparing and cooking using a variety of food commodities, cooking techniques and equipment whilst developing their knowledge of the nutritional content of food and drinks. They learn of the relationship between diet, nutrition and health, including the physiological and psychological effects of poor diet and health.
Within Product Design students are encouraged to explore problem solving skills through a range of materials in a safe and controlled environment,
selecting from and using specialist tools, techniques, processes, equipment and machinery, including computer-aided manufacture in order to produce their final outcomes.
In Art, students are taught the process of designing and making art by developing primary and secondary research into their own ideas in order to generate their own artwork using a variety of art techniques and processes. Students are encouraged to experiment when developing ideas, selecting and use specialist mediums, techniques, and processes effectively whilst exploring a range of techniques and processes
from relevant artists to further extend their own developing practise and ideas.

Spirit – In Product Design, students are encouraged to consider the needs of others through the process of iterative design and problem solving whilst
considering the environmental and social impact of their work. In Food and Nutrition, students understand the economic, environmental, ethical, and socio-cultural influences on food whilst studying food provenance and the environmental issues surrounding food production. In Art, students are encouraged to explore movements and developments in Art, considering the impact on individuals and society. They learn the value of creative arts in enhancing their own mental wellbeing.
